Uh oh ! Looks like R&B singers Ray J and and Teairra Mari are off the market AGAIN. Rumor has it that the two were dating while Teairra was signed with Roc A Fella Records back in 2008. The relationship was short lived and kept under wraps until Yung Berg put them on blast during an interview. A month ago the two were seen hugged up at the Westfest in LA.
Last weekend Teairra and Ray J were spotted at Fred Segal in West Hollywood on a shopping spree. I guess chivalry is not dead as Ray J was seen opening doors and holding a bag for Teairra. They make a cute couple lets see what the future holds for these two.

Can you spot the difference ?
Many fans went into a frenzy after the left picture above of songwriter and singer India Arie’s promo picture for her new single “Cocoa Butter” was released. The hype started when fans noticed an unrecognizable India Arie who is notably known for her hit song “Brown Skin.” She appeared to look much lighter than usual on the cover of the picture. Considering that India’s lyrics promote self acceptance and beauty fans could not understand why she would want to bleach her skin.
However the singer denies any accusations of bleaching. Sources close to India Arie told TMZ that the criticism is ridiculous because the “lightened”skin is merely the product of the camera flash and angle. They also stated that the singer never asked to be lightened. Many people may agree but still wonder if the singer has the authority to approve the picture before it is published.
Just several months ago India Arie went into a tirade over the Nina Simone biopic skin color controversy. Zoe Saldana was selected to play Nina Simone in the film however Saldana’s characteristics and physical attribute didn’t sit well with Arie once the pictures for the film were released. She stated on Nina Simone’s website, “Yes there should be a movie made, and YES they should have chosen someone who LOOKS like Nina Simone, ESPECIALLY since her RACE played such a PIVOTAL role in WHO, WHAT and WHY, she was. THAT ASIDE for a second, this just looks WEIRD, it looks like a person in Black(er) face with a fake nose … REALLY?!!!!”
Issues pertaining to the skin in the African American community especially in the entertainment industry is not uncommon. Beyonce has been accused of lightening her skin on several occasions. Kelly Rowland recently spoke in an interview about accepting her brown skin and influencing Brandy to speak about her insecurities as a child. Other celebs who have been rumored to be bleaching over the years are endless, but we wont get into that. Another story another day. *Sips Tea*
As I told yall Chris Brown has definitely turned a new leaf. He’s back doing interviews as he told his fans during his interview with Ebony he would start doing. He dropped by Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Power 106 in L.A where the two talked about Beef with Drake and Frank Ocean and keeping his personal life and relationship with Rihanna private.
Highlights on some of the interview below:
On His Beef With Drake
It’s not entertainment for me I think it’s me more being real and saying what I gotta say. I ain’t out here trying to go at him. I ain’t got people after him. I’m just chillin’. I have my differences and he has his. His music’s still hot. I would look like the corniest dude ever if I just stood up there and got mad every time I heard [his] record [in a club]. He gon’ hear me. I’m gon’ hear him. *laughs* What I’m not gon’ do is I’m not gon’ put myself in a situation for anything to mess up my career. Focus on what it is. Focus on your music.
On his beef with Frank Ocean
It’s in the past, some stuff went down but it’s not what people [made it out to be.] It was sensationalized, I have respect for his music and I’m not trying to go down that route. I do my music so I’m good.
On his decision to do interviews again
Every day is a learning step. For me now, not being so hesitant about doing interviews. It’s not that anymore. I’m damn near 25, about to be 24, I can’t live my life in the shadow. I can’t live my life being ashamed of who I am because I love who I am. I love myself and I love my fans.
When was the last time you saw Rihanna?
Uh…it’s been a minute though. I haven’t got the chance to go out there and go on the tour yet ’cause I’ve been working, but I seen her right before that.
Are you in love, Chris?
Huh? I’m a lover man. Definitely a lover.
Are you going to fly out to the tour?
Yeah I’m gonna try to catch a couple of the shows. I heard it’s amazing. I saw some of the rehearsal shows.
On if it’s hard to maintain privacy
I think it has to do with how much we are in the public eye and how accessible we are. I think mystery is key so that’s why half the time I don’t get on my Twitter. I don’t even have an Instagram no more. It’s like the mystery is in the music and the madness. So, whatever my talent is, I want them to focus on that so I can be able to do my personal stuff without…I know the paparazzi is gonna be there but they ain’t gonna know, know, know.

Ever since talks about VH1 airing a biographic film of the phenomenal R&B group TLC which stars actress/singer Keke Palmer to play Chilli, Hip Hop artist Lil Mama as T-Boz and Drew Sidora as Left Eye, Keke has been getting a lot of negative feedback on her role as Chilli. Some people feel as though Keke Palmer does not fit the role because she looks nothing like Chilli. *Raises eyebrow* Others have continuously made ignorant comments saying Keke does not have “good hair” as Chilli appears to have. Good hair ? Really ? Smh. I Digress. These comment didn’t sit to well with Keke, she took her twitter account and went innnn !
“People kill me, I don’t remember Angela Bassett looking ANYTHING like Tina Turner. And she RIPPED that role, ? People need to realize hat movies aren’t casted by people looking like who they’re playing. They’re casted by who can do the role. I don’t know about you, but I would much rather see a movie that is well acted, then a movie with a bunch of look a like’s. Cause Ben Affleck isn’t even Hispanic, but the man he played in Argo IS. I shouldn’t play the part because my baby hair isn’t the perfect texture?. Goodnight Twitter, goodnight.”
Despite all of the hate, last weekend Keke Palmer and T-Boz were seen hanging out on the set of the film. Chilli and T-Boz serve as mentors for the film, as it is currently being filmed in Atlanta, Georgia.
Since Ashanti and Nelly’s long term relationship came to an end earlier this year and Nelly has been all over the blog with new girlfriend Tae Hacerked, Ashanti is not wasting anytime getting back to work. Even if this was a nasty break up, we could never tell shes not letting this breakup bring her down as she was spotted smiling from ear to ear on a lunch date with her stylist EJ King at the Ivy earlier this week.
Her new album which was set to release
March 2013 sometime this year has been pushed back to June 4, 2013 entitled Braveheart. This will be the singers 5th album and first album off her label Written Entertainment. The Woman You Love which was put out 2 years ago is the lead single off the album which features Brooklyn Native Busta Rhymes. Ashanti recently put out another single Never Should Have which she sings about a relationship that has come to an end after thinking it would last forever (as we women think all of our relationships will) and now that its over shes listing all of the things he should have never done while in the relationship. The single is being used for promo on Lifetime’s TV series Army Wives and word is Ashanti has a role on the seventh season of Army Wives.

My mother always said if you have a dream or a goal put it on paper and watch it materialize. I guess for this situation its pretty much the same concept. Last year when the above photo of Beyonce went viral on the net fans were ecstatic to know King Bey supported gay marriage and applauded her good deed for the day only to find out the picture is completely photo-shopped.
Now today as the Supreme Court decides whether or not they want to overturn Proposition 8 (law banning same sex marriage in California) Beyonce has taken her Instagram, Twitter and Facebook account to speak out on the law. In efforts to support same sex marriage Beyonce uploaded a handwritten message to her fans. “If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it“, she wrote, a line from her infamous #1 song ‘Single Ladies.’ She then continued to say “#we will unite 4 marriage equality.”
She also posted an image of the Human Rights Campaign, a red equal sign logo with the caption and hastags that read “Its about time . . . #equality #prop8 #marriageislove . . . show your support !!”
The struggle to equalize gay marriages has been a battle especially in states such as California and Georgia while in other states like New York and Washington DC gay marriage is permitted. Unfortunately although these states allow same sex marriages, DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act of 1996) prevents same sex marriage couples from participating in federal programs such as social security and filing of joint tax returns. The biggest part of DOMA that is being challenged today is Part Three which makes it so that individual states do not have to legally recognize or acknowledge a gay or lesbian couple that were married in another state.
