Looks like Drake is adding yet another artist to his October’s Very Own label. The 0 to 100 artist signed Makonnen Sheran aka ILoveMakonnen, after remixing the Atlanta based emcee and producer’s single “Tuesday.”
OVO Sound was founded by Drake, Noah “40” Shebib and Oliver El-Khatib in 2012. The current roster includes Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Majid Jordan and OB O’Brien. Producers signed to the label include 40, Boi-1da, T-Minus, Mike Zombie and Nineteen85.
Earlier this year ILoveMakonnen released his self titled EP, which featured “I Dont Sell Molly No More” and “Club Going Up On A Tuesday.”
The remix “Tuesday” was released on iTunes on Monday (no pun intended) and can be heard below. Check it out below !
Drake has not wasted anytime with announcing his forthcoming fourth studio album entitled Views From The 6, short for 416 the area code of Drizzy’s native Toronto. Although there is no set date for the album, rumor has it, it will be in stores spring of 2015.
In addition to his album his label OVO Sound and Warner Brothers will release albums from Majid Jordan (July 22) A Place Like This and PARTYNEXTDOOR (July 29) PARTYNEXTDOOR TWO. Drake is set to host the 2014 ESPY Awards in LA tonight at 9pm est.
The summer is Drake’s as always with a few venues and tours to end the summer. Bringing the fifth annual OVO Fest to Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on August 3-4 with performances from OutKast and other guest as well as himself and co-headling tour with Lil Wayne kicking off Aug. 8 at New York’s Darien Lake Performing Arts Center. The duo will be touring in 31 cities. More details to come.
Since Rihanna and Chris Brown called it quits initially, Drake has always had a thing for Rih Rih ultimately causing a feud between the two men. The two even came to blows with bottles in a night club back in 2012. But it looks as though the two have squashed their beef and let bygones be bygones. Drizzy and Breezy were in the studio together a few nights ago along with Tyga and a few friends.
No word as to what they duo was working on, maybe a possible Fan Of A Fan 2 mix-tape or even some tracks off their upcoming albums. If you all remember, the two were not always feuding. The first track they were ever on together was four years ago on “Deuces.”
Our eyes and ears are open !
Wonder what Rihanna has to say about all of this ?
During the kickoff to NBA All-Star Weekend, Drake revealed the release date for Lil Wayne’s highly anticipated album Tha Carter V.
“If you want to hear Lil Wayne at his best, if you wanna hear Young Money at they best… Carter V, May 5,” blurted out Drake. “Just know we about this shit for real” Drizzy added. Drake and Lil Wayne performed at the Sprite NBA All-Star party at the House of Blues in New Orleans on Friday night, where he made the big announcement.
In November of 2012, Wayne announced that Tha Carter V would be his last album. “I know ya’ll want me around for a little bit and Carter V is my last album,” he told MTV News. “I’ve been rapping since I was eight years old. That’s a long time.”
Before putting out his last album, Weezy will be joining the rest of Young Money with a compilation Rise of an Empire, due March 11.
In mist of releasing her most talked about single “Looking A-s N-gga,” Hip Hop Queen Nicki Minaj called into Hot 97’s Angie Martinez Show to address the controversial unofficial Malcolm X artwork to “Looking A-s N-gga”, her relationship with Drake and her fourth studio album “The Pink Print.” She also talked about her upcoming plans for Valentine’s Day.
On Drake and Young Money: “Drake and I are great. That’s my baby. Drake is the one that told me to get on ‘Danny Glover.’ He told me to get on that and Safaree SB told me to get on ‘Boss Ass Bitch.’ ‘Cause I was in album mode, so they both were just comin’ at me like, ‘You’re gonna have to get on that,’ and I just happened to do it. But Drake and I are great. We are in a great space. I think the whole team collectively just feels so together right now. We all kinda just wanna win. Wayne’s about to put out his album and I know Drake’s been in thestudio with him. We just workin’, no bad blood, no bad vibes at all.”
On her Valentine’s Day plans: “I was thinking about buying some real sexy stuff and taking some pictures. I was gonna do like the picture I did for Halloween. I was gonna do a new picture like in the red version, but I don’t know. It would be nice if I got some candy, but I don’t know.”
On her new album: “The Pink Print is not gonna have a release date. You’ll never know when it’s coming until it just comes.” (more…)
For all of you Drizzy Drake fans the wait is over! Yesterday Drake revealed the album cover to his upcoming album Nothing Was The Same. The album cover features an image of baby Drake with a mini afro and a second side profile of a fully matured Drake. Placed next to it each other, the images find Drake staring at himself, and likely symbolize him looking back at his childhood to his manhood.
The graphics are courtesy of painter and illustrator Kadir Nelson, who has worked for artists like Michael Jackson, publications like Sports Illustrated and even for the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Postal Service. He is too an author for bet selling books about historical figures such as Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Nothing Was The Same hit stores September 24th which will feature the singles “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and “Started From The Bottom,” which Drake is set to perform this Sunday At the MTV 2013 VMA’s.
